The first one-day international (ODI) clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was called off due to rain at the National Stadium on Friday and the second ODI has been rescheduled to September 30.

The two boards came to an agreement to allow the ground staff to get the National Stadium outfield ready for next week's play.

Previously, the second ODI clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was scheduled on September 29.

PCB Director - International Cricket, Zakir Khan said: "This week's unseasonal heavy rains have forced us to review the series schedule. I am thankful to Sri Lanka Cricket as well as our host broadcasters for agreeing to amend the match schedule to ensure there are no further abandonments due to rain in what is an important bilateral FTP series for Pakistan."

This was the first time in 10 years, Karachi was hosting an ODI match but due to poor playing conditions, the officials had to call the game off.

The match was so special for all Pakistani fans that even the PAK skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed said, "History will be made on Friday when Karachi will host the first ODI."

"We must thank the Sri Lankan team for touring us."

Teams have been reluctant to visit Pakistan since a militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009, thus key player like -- Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Dinesh Chandimal and Dimuth Karunaratne all opted to make themselves unavailable for the tour.
