As the World Test Championship (WTC) final has entered the 'Reserve Day', India and New Zealand are trying to get the game complete in order to crown one nation as champion.

While the mace is something that the two sides are fighting for the final, individual records are also something that players have an eye on.

New Zealand paceman Tim Southee is one of them who is not only smashing bowling records but is also creating new records with the bat. Southee, in the final at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton on Tuesday (June 22) smashed two sixes in his 30-run knock.

The sixes have helped him go past former Australian captain Ricky Ponting's record of sixes in Test matches. Southee has now hammered 75 sixes in 79 Test matches and gone past Ponting's tally of 73 sixes in 168 Test matches.

Southee is now on the cusp of breaking former India captain MS Dhoni's record as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper smashed 78 sixes in 90 Test matches.

The Kiwi speedster has an average of 20.55 in Test cricket with the bat and has scored a total of five fifties in the red-ball version and has 1,728 runs to his name.

Most sixes in Test cricket:

Brendon McCullum – 107 in 101 matches

Jacques Kallis 97 in 166 matches

Ben Stokes – 79 in 71 matches

MS Dhoni – 78 in 90 matches

Tim Southee – 75 in 79 matches

Ricky Ponting – 73 in 168 matches.

On the other hand, Southee, with the wicket of Shubham Gill in India's second innings has the 600th wicket in International cricket across the three formats. His crucial cameo had helped New Zealand get past India's score of 217 runs as they were skittled out for 249 runs getting a lead of 32 runs.
