Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar have been called up as replacements for injured Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah ahead of India’s three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against England.

Bumrah will miss the T20I series, starting Tuesday, with a fractured left thumb, while Sundar has been ruled out of both the T20I and One-Day International (ODI) series. Axar Patel is expected to replace him in the 50-over format.

Bumrah, while attempting a return catch during India’s first T20I against Ireland, injured his thumb. Although he attended India’s optional training session on Thursday, he did not train.

According to reports, after Bumrah underwent scans on his hand, he did not play the second Ireland T20I on Friday.

Meanwhile, Chahar is currently playing for India A squad in England in the 50-over tri-series also featuring England Lions and West Indies A. After three games in that series, Chahar was top of India's wickets charts, with seven wickets at 12.71 and an economy rate of 4.04.

Chahar came into the limelight following his good show with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he picked up 10 wickets in 12 games and was also their second-most economical bowler (economy rate: 7.28). Chahar also struck 50 runs for CSK in four games at a strike rate of 172.

On the other hand, Krunal Pandhya has just three runs and two wickets to his name from three games for India A in the tri-series. However, he has been chosen for the senior team on the account of his impressive performances in the IPL 2018, which helped him earn a place in India A for the UK tour, under the leadership of Shreyar Iyer.
