All the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises recently retained some players while traded and let off some players before the auction in December.

Going into the season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a lot of changes from their 2019 squad in hopes to change their fortunes in the coming season.

RCB decided to retain 13 players and released as many as 12 players from their squad. Skipper Virat Kohli and South Africa’s star batsman AB de Villiers are some of the few expected names who have been retained.

The team also retained opener Parthiv Patel banking on his performance in the previous edition.

Parthiv Patel, 34, scored 373 runs at the top of the order, however, former Australia cricketer turned expert Dean Jones appeared to question RCB's decision.

Taking to Twitter, Jones replied to Mike Hesson, who is the Director of Cricket Operations at RCB, writing, "You kept @parthiv9?"

Parthiv Patel replied to the jibe and tweeted, "So that u can be at peace during ipl in #selectdugout...."

Patel had rejoined RCB in 2018 and has since been a constant in the playing XI. Patel has also played for Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and SunRisers Hyderabad in his IPL career.
