Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) ablaze on Saturday with a demolition of Kings XI Punjab in Indore. They also kept their play-off hopes alive with big win.

The win also made KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan smile. SRK shared a picture on Twitter after KKR's victory. He said that he was very disappointed by the performance of his team before the match but his captain Dinesh Karthik asked him to smile.

He wrote, "My Captain @DineshKarthik asked me to smile cos I was so disappointed at the match before. This pic is for him."

Shah Rukh Khan had apologised to fans after KKR suffered a humiliating 102-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in their previous IPL 2018 match on Wednesday. Just after KKR's loss, Shah Rukh took to Twitter and wrote an apologetic message to KKR fans. "Sports is about the spirit and wins/losses don't reflect that. But tonight as the 'Boss' I need to apologise to the fans for the lack of spirit," he wrote.

KKR beat Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs to stay in contention for a play-off berth.

Dinesh Karthik's men batted first in scorching conditions and ended up registering the highest total of IPL 2018 - 245/6 in 20 overs. This is KKR's highest score in IPL history.

Sunil Narine, who has been stunning as an opener, once again left everyonespellbound with a 36-ball-75 while skipper Dinesh Karthik played an equally significant role with his 23-ball-50.

The chase was always out of question and KL Rahul tried his bit with a 28-ball-66, which wasn't enough as KXIP could only manage 214 for 8 in 20 overs.

Karthik then took over and made 50 off 23, while Andre Russell smashed a 14-ball 31.
