What do we recall when we think of Yuvraj Singh? The 6 sixes against England in World T20, the stupendous performance in 2011 World Cup and many other memorable outings. Yuvi also had his fair share of good performance in IPL for various franchises. But seems like he is running out of time in his illustrious cricketing career.

Yuvraj Singh who is now out of the Indian team hasn't exactly set IPL stage on fire for KXIP. He has looked out of touch, a bit on the heavier side physically and in generally not exactly battle ready for the intense level of cricket which IPL demands. But with legends, one always hope for miraculous comebacks. What greater example than Yuvraj's good friend MS Dhoni. He has completely reinvented his game and showing glimpses of his past form for CSK in this IPL. Unfortunately for Yuvraj fans, the Punjab southpaw hasn't exactly done any similar act.

But the stage was perfect for him against Mumbai Indians in Wankhede stadium on Wednesday. A win would have ensured KXIP reach the play-offs. Chasing 186 to win, KXIP lost by only 3 runs. Yuvraj Singh coming at 4th down, had the chance of getting KXIP home. However, he failed to live up to his time tested reputation. After managing a single of the first ball from Bumrah, he missed a juicy ball from McClenaghan in his second ball which the Yuvi of yore would have dispatched to the stands.

Unfortunately, Yuvraj got out in the third ball when he ended up holing out to sweeper cover while trying to clear the boundary of McClenaghan. 1 out of 3 balls from Yuvraj and his horror session continued. In IPL 2018, Yuvraj Singh has scored  paltry 65 runs in 8 matches with an average of 10.83 and strike rate of 89.

While Twitter roasted Yuvraj Singh for his shoddy outing, eminent commentator Harsha Bhogle had a slightly different take.

He tweeted:

Bhogle said, "  felt for Yuvraj today. One of India's greatest white-ball players. Those two balls were in his arc. There is a lesson there for all of us. That which we think is easy today, which we take for granted, will one day become difficult". He further tweeted, " Do bear in mind that if Yuvraj had been in form and batting freely, he would have come in earlier. That he didn't is an indicator of how the team management (not just the captain) perceived current form."

The decision to promote Axar ahead of Yuvraj was indeed roundly criticised by fans and pundits alike. But Harsha's tweet about how things are transient in life and what we take for granted may soon cease to be so is definitely a food for thought. Even the greats need to know when to go, with their head held high.
