Teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw who was injured during the warm up match before the first test match in Australia has been ruled out for the entire series. Initially, it was felt that Shaw would be fit for the Boxing Day test match, but now the management has decided to send him home. Mayank Agarwal who has been a prolific scorer in the domestic circuit has been named as replacement.

Along with Mayank Agarwal, Hardik Pandya will also travel to Australia. Pandya who is a vital cog in the Indian line up has been missing in action since his injury during the Asia cup. However, Pandya showed his fitness when he took five wickets and seventy odd runs in the Ranji match against Mumbai.

India is in a precarious situation in the Perth test match, staring down the barrel with Australia just needing five wickets to equalise the series. With openers completely out of form, Mayank's chances of being drafted straight into the first XI looks very high.  Pandya too is likely to be included as India's long tail has been severely exposed in this test series.
