New Zealand survived Ravindra Jadeja's late onslaught to stun India by 18 runs in a low-scoring thriller on Wednesday and reach the Cricket World Cup final for the second time in a row.

Twice champions India were reeling at 24-4 in their chase for a modest victory target of 240 in what had appeared to be a lop-sided semi-final.

Jadeja (77) partnered MS Dhoni in a century-plus stand but India were bowled out for 221 in the final over and New Zealand will play hosts England in Sunday's ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 final at Lord's.

Team India's next challenge is against West Indies where the Men In Blue will take on the Men In Maroon in 5-ODI matches.

Head coach Ravi Shastri had his say after India's sudden World Cup semifinal exit and about the Windies ODI series.

When questioned about weather he has intel regarding MS Dhoni possible retirement from ODI cricket Shastri's replay was, "It's not my job to look into that. It's the selection committee who deals with that kind of stuff and the selectors should take to MSD about this."

When questioned about why didn't he attend any of the press conferences throughout the World Cup 2019, he replied: "There was no reason for me to be there. The critics are there to point out the boys' performances. I have to say, the fans so far have been very understanding regarding our loss. They could see that this team can score 300+ runs win a match and also lost silly games as well. Even in those two matches we lost, we score 300 in one of them and in the other one, we almost won. So they know what these players are capable of regarding potential."

On the incident of England fans applauding after the dismissal of both Kohli and Dhoni against Pakistan at Old Trafford, Shastri said, "I was not at all amused. England were terrified to face India before that. If we were knocked out early, then it would have been a moment of relief for England."

"After our exit, I told the boys to keep their chins up. For the past four years, we have played some fantastic cricket. We are ranked number one in the ODI list and the same for the Test rankings as well. We just need to cope up with the reality as soon as possible because that's what Pros do."
