Viral Berawala is CIO at Essel Mutual Fund

Financial services firm Essel Finance has appointed Viral Berawala as chief investment officer (CIO) for the firm’s newest division, Essel Mutual Fund (EMF). With around two decades of experience in major financial and information technology (IT) companies like Reliance Nippon Life Insurance Company, Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management and Tata Consultancy Services, Berawala will now take charge to further strengthen the investment team of EMF.

Rajiv Shastri, executive director and chief executive officer, Essel Finance AMC Ltd, said, “Viral’s wealth of insight and experience will be leveraged to further our vision and strengthen our fund management capabilities. We are delighted to welcome him as part of our investment team and leadership structure.”

Launched in November 2017, Essel Mutual Fund is registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India , and is a part of Essel Finance Group. It currently has assets under management (AUM) of Rs 1,100 crore.
