"There are 400-500 textile units in Faisalabad and Lahore in Pakistan. These are important markets for us. They import dyes from India and China. China is our tough competitor in Pakistan," said Parikh. The Indian delegation will visit Pakistan on March 8.

A delegation of GDMA visits Pakistan once a year to get fresh orders and strengthen ties with the buyers. Till now the delegation consisted of 30-40 members, while this year there are 52-members, a new record.

Parikh recalls the hospitality displayed by their host in the previous visit. "They took care of our minutest of needs. We felt at home during our visits to the western neighbour," said Parikh. Indian suppliers also had an issue of non-payment by their clients. When the issue was brought to the notice of local chamber of commerce, they ensured that all the payment was made.

According to Parikh, if the visiting Pakistani delegation for Vibrant Gujarat Summit had got visas, it would have strengthened bilateral trade ties. "Rejection of visas of Pakistani business delegation sends wrong signals. It is only through such visits that businessmen from both the sides get business. Participation in such expo gives an idea of the business opportunity that lies ahead," he said.
