Dhantrayodashi which is also known as Dhanteras has marked the official beginning of the five days long Diwali festival. Dhanteras is observed on the thirteenth lunar day of the Krishna Paksha as per the Hindu calendar and it falls between October and November. It's considered ausicipious to buy gold and silver jewellery on Dhanteras.

Amazon

Besides the ongoing Diwali sale, Amazon has also announced discounts up to 20 per cent and cashbacks of up to Rs 1,500 on gold and silver coins. It has also put up gold and silver jewellery on sale for discounts of up to 50 per cent on making.

Snapdeal

On Dhanteras, Snapdeal is offering up to 20% off on Gold coins and up to 60% off on gold jewellery. On Silver earrings, Snapdeal is offering attractive discounts upto 80%. 

Besides, customers can also avail discounts between 60% to 80% on utensils. 

In addition to these offers, Citi Bank credit card users will save more with a 15 per cent cashback offer which is available during this sale.

Flipkart

It's last day of sale of Flipkart's Diwali Sale. Flipkart has announced many lucrative Dhanteras and Diwali offers on TV, refrigerator, washing machines among other categories. 

Tanishq

If online shopping makes you skeptical, then you can avail many ongoing deals at Tanishq stores. Tanishq has announced up to 25% on gold and diamond jewellery.

Meanwhile, top stock exchanges NSE and BSE have decided to extend the trading session for gold exchange traded funds (ETFs) and sovereign gold bonds (SGB) on November 5, till 7 pm on the occasion of Dhanteras, a festival celebrated two days before Diwali.

Gold ETFs track the metals prices and each unit of these securities is generally equivalent to one gram of gold, while SGB are government securities denominated in grams of gold and offer an alternative to holding gold in physical form.

The exchanges will conduct muhurat trading session on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan on November 7 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, BSE and NSE said in separate notices.
