Castor seed prices rolled down by Rs 126 to Rs 4,254 per quintal in futures trade today as participants trimmed holdings in line with weak physical as well as overseas markets.

Market players attributed the fall to muted demand in spot markets from consuming industries amid persistent supplies.

Low export demand too had a negative impact, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for delivery in September slumped by Rs 126, or 2.88 per cent, to Rs 4,254 per quintal, with an open interest of 80 lots.

Castor seed for most-traded delivery in July dropped by Rs 89, or 2.12 per cent, to Rs 4,107 per quintal, having an open interest of 88,100 lots.
