Shahid Kapoor is on the seventh sky with the tremendous success of his last release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. The actor is currently filming for Batti Gul Meter Chalu along with Shraddha Kapoor. But the announcement that left all his fans even more excited was him collaborating with Imtiaz Ali for a film. Speculations were rife that the film will be a sequel to Jab We Met, but those rumours were quashed later.

Now, if recent reports are anything to go by, then looks like the film has been put on the backburner. Before you jump the gun thinking that it's the result of some tiff between the actor and the director, let us tell you that that's not the case. Apparently, the project has been shelved because th producer weren't sure about the film.

A report on Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying, "The script was a little edgy and even though Shahid loved it, the producers approached were somewhat sceptical about its experimental nature. Shahid and Imtiaz met recently and have decided to keep this film on the backburner for now. Imtiaz and Shahid may return to this project next year or maybe later.”

Well, the last directorial venture of Imtiaz Ali titled Jab Harry Met Sejal was also a bit experimental in nature and it didn't perform as per the expectations at the box office, despite having a stellar cast of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. May be that's why the makers were sceptical.

Meanwhile, Shahid's spokesperson told the tabloid, "Imtiaz hasn’t made an official announcement about his next film or its cast. When he is ready to do so he will make the requisite announcement.” Looks like the fans will have to wait a little longer for Imtiaz and Shahid to come together for another project.
