Mrs Funnybones also mentions the incident when comedian Kiku Sharda was jailed for mimicking 'Insaan'
Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh 'Insaan' has been held guilty of rape charges levied on him back in 2002 and his followers have been wreaking havoc in Panchkula (Sirsa) ever since he has been held guilty. About 30-40 casualties have been reported in the menace that followed post the self proclaimed godman's conviction. Just like the people in the remaining parts of the country, Twinkle Khanna aka Mrs Funnybones also condemned the violence, but in her trademark sarcastic manner.
In her recent column for the Times of India titled, When the Love Charger ran out of battery, the actress calls herself a "staunch member" of the MSG club that she apparently founded to watch the first day first show of "the good Baba's cinematic outing" along with other members.
She also claims to have "regularly listened to his songs with lyrics like, ‘You are the Love Charger, billions battery when goes down you charged up with love so strong'" and mentions the incidents when she took a picture with "MSG’s lurid green convertible parked right outside" the Marriot and the time when she posted his pictures on learning that MSG has moved to his neighbourhood.
Without mincing her words, Khanna also shares the kind of threatening calls and messages that she would get just on posting a one-liner on her Twitter account. About the havoc wrecked by MSG's followers she notes, "...the realisation of what a godman’s followers are really capable of sunk in only on Friday after MSG was convicted of rape. Mayhem spread across parts of Punjab and Haryana as his followers, who call themselves Insan, forgot about their humanity and went about threatening to ‘wipe out India’."
She also points out how we, the people are to blame for the existence of such godmen, "Babas and their kind are as common in India as potholes. But I think we are more to blame than them as they exist only because of us. As I wrote earlier, when our current idol falls off his pedestal, we simply call him or her a fraud and go off on a quest to find the next godman."
Twinkle ends her views by recalling the incident when comedian Kiku Sharda was taken in remand for mimicking MSG and she suggests that he should head to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate. She wrote, "Anyway, all this monkey business reminds me of a certain cheeky monkey and old colleague, Kiku Sharda who was jailed for mimicking the Love Charger. I think he should immediately go to the nearest Chinese restaurant to celebrate, order a beer and tell the waiter, ‘I don’t want any monosodium glutamate in my Schezwan chicken, you people should lock away your MSG too. Cheers!’"
