Deepika Padukone writes to Smriti Irani over goons destroying Padmavati rangoli

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati has been mired in contriversies ever since the project went on floors. The director was attacked by members of Rajput Karni Sena whle he was shooting in Jaipur, Rajashthan. Furthermore, some unidentified people even burnt the sets and costumes of the film while the unit was shooting in Kolhapur. 

As if that wasn't enough, miscreants decided not to leave an artist in peace as well. The latest addition to the series of unforunate events about the film Padmavati, an artist Karan K's magnificent rangoli portyaing stills from film's trailer, was destroyed by a group of about 100 people. It took about 48 hours for the artist to complete his beautiful piece of art and the hooligans vansalised it within minutes, shouting 'Jai Shree Ram'. 

The artist shared images of his work and the destruction that followed on Twitter writing, "#padmavati Rangoli controversy! A crowd of 100 people cried JAY SRI RAM n rubbed out my 48 hrs’ intense work! @deepikapadukone@FilmPadmavati.”

Now, the protagonist of the film Deepika Padukone has come out and condemn the act. She even urged the I & B Minister Smriti Irani to look into the matter and take strict action. 

In a series of tweets, Deepika shared, "absolutely heart breaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork!disgusting and appalling to say the least!Who are these people?Who is responsible for their actions?For how long are we going to let this go on?allow them to take law into their own hands & attack our freedom & right to individual expression time & again!?this has to stop NOW & action must be taken!@smritiirani"
