Yami Gautam will be seen on the big screen with Batti Gul Meter Chalu after two years, but the film is reportedly facing its first hurdle. The movie is being co-produced by Prernaa Arora and T-Series.

Rumour has it that the bone of contention is the fallout that Yami and Divya Khosla Kumar apparently had during the post-production and publicity of Sanam Re, which was directed by the latter. A source says, “There’s an internal conflict. The banner has not forgiven Yami and is still upset with her.” As a result, they have not offered the actress any film after her last outing, Sanam Re.

New problems

Now, as Yami joins Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor for the cast of Batti Gul, which goes on the floors on February 9, the tension between the two parties is said to be palpable. “The producers were not keen on Yami joining the cast, but Prernaa, along with director Shree Narayan Singh, got the actress on board as they felt she suited the character,” the source adds.

Sorry, but no sorry

Prernaa, who’s the bridge between the two sides, has tried to play peacemaker. “Apparently, she and Bhushan Kumar spoke about the issue and the banner wants an apology from Yami. Prernaa has asked Yami to apologise and move on. She even had a word with Bhushan’s team and tried to convince them to accept her as a member of the cast,” the source says. However, Yami is in no mood to budge. The source adds, “Yami still feels strongly that she was right and doesn’t want to apologise. So, her saying sorry isn’t happening for sure. But, Prernaa is definitely going ahead with her for the film.”
