Padmaavat crosses Rs 300 crore: Here's what 'Khilji' Ranveer Singh has to say

Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmaavat recently crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office. Reacting to the same, Ranveer Singh, who portrays Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, feels that it's a historic film that will make his career glow. 

 

An IANS report quoted Ranveer as saying in a statement, "Padmaavat’ is a historic film for our country. I’m overwhelmed and extremely happy that the film has received this much love from audiences not just in India, but also the world over." He added, "It is a film that is and will always be extremely close to my heart and with it becoming my first ever Rs 300 crore film, the memory of ‘Padmaavat’ will be that much more special."

 

Ranveer further added that he will always be thankful to Bhansali for his vision and for giving him the chance to play the character of Khilji since it is something that wil "forever glow in my body of work."

The actor also shared that the success of Padmaavat should be cherished by everyone and as artists, we all need to have faith in our craft and vision. The film finally hit the theatres on January 25 this year, after a lot of controversies. 

 

As of now, Ranveer is busy filming Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and will see the fresh pair on screen for the first time. Apart from that, Ranveer has Rohit Shetty's Simmbaa and Kabir Khan's '83 (based on the 1983 cricket world cup win) in his kitty.
