Kerala Floods: Bollywood celebrities come out in support of the victims, spread awareness

The Indian state of Kerala is experiencing one of the worst floods in a century and according to reports from the state, the death toll has reached 324.

Coming in support of Kerala and spreading awareness about the floods, several Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media and are trying to help the victims in whichever way possible.

Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, who’s battling high-grade cancer and is currently stationed in New York, undergoing medical treatment, too urged people to come out and help the Kerala flood victims as much as they can. 

The Kal Ho Na Ho actress took to Twitter to extend her prayers to the families who are affected by the devastating floods in the Southern state.

She wrote, "My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the #KeralaFloods... let's do everything we can to help them in this time of need."

Other B-Town biggies, including Abhishek Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, among others also extended their support and well wishes, while urging people to come forward and help the people in the flood marred state.

Abhishek Bachchan, who will next be seen in Manmarziyan also took to his social media handle and prayed for the flood victims. 

"Tragic to see what is happening in Kerala floods. Please help in whatever way you can. Pray for Kerala," the actor tweeted.

Terming the wreckage caused in Kerala by the deluge as "gut-wrenching", Anushka Sharma said, "Whatever we can do, we must. Kerala Floods."

Actress Bhumi Pednekar too gave out information about a service that could be used to donate necessary items and products to the victims affected by the floods.

She wrote, "Hello all Amazon India has started a service where you can donate necessities and products to 3 organisations helping with the Kerala Flood relief. If you have the will to help but can’t find a way,this will be of help. Please help #keralafloods" 

She also shared a link which could be used to donate the necessities along with the message.

Dulquer Salmaan, who is new on the block and is being praised for his performance in Karwaan also requested national media to draw attention on Kerala floods. 

He tweeted, "Urging and requesting the #nationalmedia to focus and draw attention to #keralafloods!! Each day is looking more grim for millions."

 
Incessant rainfall in Kerala has over the last few days, has caused abnormal flooding and landslides in several parts of the state. The flooding yet continues and the situation is getting worse every minute. While trying to save lives, the Centre has launched a massive rescue and relief operation.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been asked to mobilize additional manpower, boats, and helicopters to scale up the rescue and relief operations. Food packets and drinking water are also being rushed.
