Kapoor family, Godrej Properties in talks to close RK Studios land deal

Indian cinema's plot of history may be bagged by one of the city's oldest families. It seems ealty sources have confirmed to DNA that the Kapoor clan is in talks with Godrej Properties for the sale of the iconic RK Studios in Chembur.

A public notice was issued by a legal firm on Friday on behalf of siblings Randhir, Rishi, Rajiv, Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain, announcing that the title of the property was being investigated.

Sources say negotiations with Godrej Properties are in the final stages and after an investigation of ownership rights of the Kapoor siblings, the property shall be registered. While refusing to name Godrej as the buyers, actor and director Randhir told DNA that his family is negotiating the deal with three to four people, and the process will be finalised within a month.

"As a matter of company policy, we do not comment on market speculation," said representatives from Godrej. Kapoor family, Godrej properties in talks to change hands for RK Studios

Sources say negotiations are at Rs 170-190 crore, while the market rate is close to Rs 150 crore - Rs 20 to 40 crore is the premium attached to the iconic land parcel measuring 9,018.85 sqmt.

The notice published in leading newspapers specifies investigation into respective 1/5th undivided shares, right, title and interest in the property of all five Kapoor siblings.

It asks all persons, entities holding any right or claim to the piece of cinematic history to contact the legal firm with documentary evidence within 14 days from Saturday.
