Kangana Ranaut was one of the trending topics last week when she had a conversation about liberal values and mob lynchings at a public event. Her views divided social media. While some embraced her views on saving cows, some lambasted her for twisting the meaning of 'liberal values.'

To clear her stance on cow lynching, the Queen actress told Mid-Day that they, her and Sadhguru, never normalised lynchings.

"We didn't normalise lynching at any point. If a certain religion worships cows, you can't slaughter cows. I am a vegan and I can't see raw meat. I can't be shamed for my choices. If it's a sentimental thing, why instigate people?" she told the daily.

"I am the most liberal person I know, but self-proclaimed liberals can't rattle me by trying to seek attention. Their agenda is to go against the Government, protest against the national anthem, but how are they standing up for the country? Our situation needs to be rectified by a strong set of ideals that can bring us out of the pit," she continued.

During the event, last week, talking about lynchings and how the liberal section of Indian society is treating these incidents. She talked about her upcoming movie Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi. One of the scenes in the movie depicts Rani Lakshmibai saving a calf. However, during the shoot, the crew decided to alter the scene and had a huge discussion about it, replacing the calf with a lamb.

The actress had said, "You feel very protective of who you are and what your values are, and you want to save all animals and you definitely want to save the cows because the prejudice is really agonising. But (then) lynching for cows takes place and you look like an idiot.

"You feel conflicted. You want to save the animals but when the lynching happens, you feel heartbroken at what's going on. You feel this is wrong," she added.

At the event, the actress discussed a variety of topics that also included nationalism and illegal immigration.

"Spirituality is the need of the hour. The idea was to have a discussion on relevant issues. People are malnourished in this country, they have no access to education; their basic needs are not met. I think the so-called liberals are indulgent with an entitled worldview" she told the daily.
