It's the first big release of 2018 and Saif Ali Khan's dark comedy 'Kaalakaandi' has already got Aamir Khan's stamp of approval.

Yes, the perfectionist who  is known to have an awesome choice of films as an actor and as producer too is mighty impressed with Kaalakaandi. Mr Khan took to Twitter and wrote, " Kaalakaandi is one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. Haven't laughed this much since I read the script of Delhi Belly. Absolutely loved all the performances. Saif was outstanding. What a debut Akshat, proud of you. Don't miss this one guys. It releases tomorrow."

It hasn't been a cakewalk for the makers to bring Kaalakaandi to theatres. The film which was supposed to release in September last year was earlier meant to be produced by Anushka Sharma and his brother. Not just they backed out, the film also had a long battle with CBFC. After given 73 cuts by Central Board of Film Certification, the producers approached  Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, who passed it with two cuts and an 'A' certificate.

Saif Ali Khan is immensly proud of the film and in an ealrier interview to DNAAfterHrs said, "Yes, the film is in an interesting space. For a first-time director, Akshat Verma (the writer of Delhi Belly, who has penned and helmed Kaalakaandi) clearly knows his mind. I have made a lot of movies with a lot of people. And I have enjoyed the experience of working with Akshat. There are good performances in this film from an ensemble cast that includes Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Akshay Oberoi, and, of course, me. There are three different tracks but all mix together and become this nicely orchestrated story. I would like to give full credit to my director. And because I’m confident of  Kaalakaandi, I requested Cinestaan to come forward and give it a good theatrical release."

The film is up for release this Friday and will clash with Anurag Kashyap's Mukkabaaz.
