2018 was a heartbreaking year for the Khans - Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan! Their films failed to impress at the box-office and it disappointed their fans. Salman's Race 3, Aamir's Thugs of Hindostan and SRK's Zero were the most-awaited films of 2018. On the contrary, emerging superstars of Bollywood, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal had a great run at the box office with the content-driven films they did.

During an interaction with a website, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has worked with the three Khans, was asked if it's an end of their era. To which the talented actor replied, "Ek picture flop ho gayi toh thodi na Khan ka zamaana chala gaya... Aisa nahi hota (Just because one film flopped, does it mean that the era of the Khans is over? It doesn’t happen like that)."

Nawaz was further quizzed about the change in Indian cinema, he said, "Change in cinema happened a long time back... Filmmakers like Shekhar Kapur, Anurag Kashyap, Ram Gopal Verma are to be credited for it. Nowadays actors are saying they are bringing the change but that’s not true... whatever shift in cinema has happened is because of the filmmakers I mentioned."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Nawazuddin is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Photograph. The film is directed by The Lunchbox fame Ritesh Batra and stars Sanya Malhotra as the female lead. It is slated to release on March 15, 2019. Photograph premiered at 2019 Sundance Film Festival and 69th Berlin International Film Festival.
