When the makers of Bhavesh Joshi Superhero decided to come out with their Harshvardhan Kapoor-starrer on May 25, they were hoping it would be a solo release of the week. However, with all decks cleared, John Abraham’s Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, is opening in cinemas on the same day, too.

While the former revolves around a vigilante with Harshvardhan playing the titular role, the latter revisits the historic moments of May 11, 1998, when India conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran. Presented by Zee Studios and Kyta Productions, this edge-of-the-seat thriller is an ode to the Indian Army and scientists, who accomplished truly extraordinary feats in the face of adversity. Based on true events, the Abhishek Sharma directorial salutes, celebrates and embraces the slogan — Jai Jawan Jai Vigyan.

With the trailer of this John-starrer having triggered curiosity among moviegoers about how India conducted the nuclear explosions two decades ago, it will be interesting to see how this and Harsh’s vigilante act play out in theatres.
