Those who have known Jackie Shroff for over three decades, know that the actor has always stood for several  social causes from time to time. But, more often than not, Jaggu Dada, as he is personally addressed by those who love him for his simplicity and kind ways, has usually maintained a very low profile as far as his involvement with social causes goes. However, this time around, he has come forward to talk about his association with patients diagnosed with Thalassemia because there is an emotional and deep connect that he shares with this cause. It so happens that Jackie and his wife Ayesha first became aware of this delicate health condition, when she was expecting their daughter, Krishna. A source says, “The Shroffs were told that their child may have been one of those who could have gotten this condition had it not been for timely diagnosis and help. God was kind and their daughter managed to pull through. However, the cause itself has been close to Jackie’s heart and so when the opportunity to sign on as the brand ambassador of Thalassemia India came to him, Jackie agreed.’’
