Is Aamir Khan playing Anu Malik in Secret Superstar ?

Aamir Khan plays a rather interesting character in his next film Secret Superstar. His role is that of a music director named Shakti Kumarr, who is past his career prime. According to an insider, “Aamir’s depiction of Shakti Kumarr is based on music composer Anu Malik.” Adds the source, “If you see the parts in the trailer, teaser, or the making of the film, you will find that though Aamir’s character may not look like Anu, his mannerisms have a lot of similarities with that of the music director.”

Taking inspiration 

In fact, Aamir was recently asked about the similarities between his character and Malik, but the actor laughed and dodged the question, saying, “Shakti Kumarr is an amalgamation of five musicians from our industry. Please watch the film and tell me who do you think my character is based on.” The source adds, “Aamir neither confirmed nor denied that his character in Secret Superstar is based on Anu; that does raise a few eyebrows.”

It’s known that Aamir’s character Shakti Kumarr is a music composer, who was once at the top of his game, but has been facing a rough patch and is trying hard to reinvent himself. Like Anu, who is not as busy as he used to be, and now is seen as a judge on a reality show more than in film credits as a singer and composer.

While Aamir’s character in the film looks a lot like Nadeem Saifi, one half of composers Nadeem-Shravan, the similarity ends there. Aamir’s mannerisms are nothing like that of the music director.
