Inconsolable Saira Baru hugs Dilip Kumar’s mortal remains, photos goes viral

Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday (July 7) after suffering from breathing issues. The legendary actor was laid to rest with full state honours.

Legendary actor and icon of Hindi cinema, Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday (July 7). The news of his demise deeply gadded the entire film industry who took to their social media accounts to mourn his death. The late actor's friends and politicians also visited his place to pay their last respects. Recently, a photo of Saira Banu and her husband, Dilip Kumar’s mortal remains have gone viral on social media making his fans emotional.

In the photo, grief-stricken Saira Banu can be seen hugging Kumar’s mortal remains. The photo was taken as the veteran actress mourned the loss of Kumar or as she fondly called him ‘Yusuf Sahab’. 

The news of Dilip Kumar’s demise was shared by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the former Twitter handle. “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. Faisal Farooqui,” he wrote in his tweet. 

Celebs such as Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn visited Kumar’s residence to pay their last respects. Maharashtra Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced that Dilip Kumar will get a state funeral. He was cremated at the Santacruz Kabristan which was later visited by megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan.

Dilip Kumar breathed his last at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital after suffering from an age-related illness. In a press briefing, the late actor’s family doctor had said, “No one should ask reason of death after the demise. he was suffering from a breathing issue, we tried our best so that he complete his 100 years of age. I don’t think that the person like him will be born in the Bollywood ever,” said the family doctor. 

Known as the tragedy king of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar has acted in 65 films in a career spanning over six decades. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is known for his iconic roles in movies like ‘Devdas’ (1955), ‘Naya Daur’ (1957), ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960), ‘Ganga Jamuna’ (1961), ‘Kranti’ (1981), and ‘Karma’ (1986). His last film was ‘Qila', which was released in 1998. He is now survived by his wife and veteran actor Saira Banu.
