Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla says that he is a reluctant actor and lethagic writer, which is why he faces difficulty.
Critically acclaimed actor, director and writer Saurabh Shukla, who has made a mark for himself in the Hindi film industry and done notable roles in several films, says that he is a reluctant actor and lethargic writer.
"I am a reluctant actor and a lethargic writer. So, it is a difficult process for me," Saurabh said at a session on the second day of 9th Jagran Film Festival. "I shy away from writing. And I initially wanted to decline Satya, but got convinced due to my role of Kallu Mama," he added.
Even with the reluctance and fatigue that Saurabh feels, he continues to be one of the best actors the film fraternity has. Wondering what it would be like if he was much more willing and enthusiastic!
The actor-writer spoke more about the Ram Gopal Varma film during a panel discussion of recollection and the celebration of 20 years of Satya. "Satya was one of my earlier work. We didn't make a bad film," he said, adding that he doesn't look for loopholes in his work.
Saurabh Shukla who was recently seen in Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev and blockbuster Raid, starring Ajay Devgn, says that in fact Satya was a "flawless film".
Satya, featuring J.D. Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar, Saurabh Shukla and Shefali Shah, narrates the story of organised crime in India. It went on to become a blockbuster hit. It, in fact had a sequel titled Satya 2, but unfortunately it tanked at the box office.
Saurabh Shukla is known for his roles in Satya (1998), Barfi! (2012), Jolly LLB (2013), Kick (2014), PK (2014), Jolly LLB 2(2017) and Raid (2018) among others. In 2014, Saurabh won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jolly LLB.
