Vicky Kaushal is living his dream. The boy from the Mumbai suburbs, who studied engineering, retraced a few steps in his adult life to become an actor instead. While he had to stay content with accolades for films like Neeraj Ghaywan’s Masaan (2015) and Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016), his golden streak began last year with movies like Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan and now Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike

The point to be noted here is that in Raazi, he was secondary to Alia Bhatt, in Sanju, he was Ranbir Kapoor’s shadow, but for the first time in Uri, he is seen as a hero, basking in his own glory.

His next move, or should we say, his next movies are being watched with keen interest both by his colleagues and the trade, especially since he has been signed by Karan Johar for his ambitious historical Takht, where he will be Aurangzeb to Ranveer Singh’s Dara Shikoh. In the meanwhile, Vicky has also stolen a march over his immediate contemporaries Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana, who have been having an interesting turn at the box office.
