Speculations about Pahlaj Nihalani to be removed from the position of the CBFC chief have been rife for quite sometime now. If the latest reports are to be believed, then it has indeed happened and lyricist Prasoon Joshi has replaced him as the new CBFC chief.
As per multiple TV reports, the censorship of movies by Nihalani was being objected to and criticised by both the audience and the filmmakers. That is reported to be the primary reason behind him being sacked from his position.
The 43 year old lyricist Prasoon Joshi, who's known for his songs in several hit films like Taare Zameen Par and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag among others has replaced Nihalani. Joshi has been awarded with the National Award for best lyrics twice. He has also received the Padma Shri Award in the year 2015 for his immense contribution in the field of Arts, Advertising and Literature.
