Birthday Special | Athiya Shetty: This birthday feels empty

Athiya Shetty’s fondest birthday memories include the time with her paternal grandfather.  But his demise earlier this year has made her truly sad.  “It’s the first year that I am celebrating without him, so it feels empty,’’ says the youngster. She adds, “I turn 25 this year, but I love getting older because I feel like you’re closer to discovering who you really are as a person.’’

She tells us that she’s not one who participates in any rituals on her janamdin. “I just like spending time with my loved ones,” she emphasises. “If you give me good food, then I am a happy person,” she laughs.  

When asked if there are any plans at all for the day, she tells us, “My girlfriends are taking me out for a quick mini holiday. They haven’t told me where so I look forward to it. They have just told me to pack my bags and be ready. I will be back early next week.”
