Asha Parekh remembers Rani Mukerji's late father Ram Mukerji

Rani Mukerji’s father Ram Mukerji, who co-founded the iconic Filmalaya Studios, passed away on Sunday after years of heart problems. The producer-director had directed films like Hum Hindustani, Leader, etc. 

Veteran actress Asha Parekh, who worked with Ram in one of her earliest films, recalls the association, “We worked in Hum Hindustani, which is to this day remembered for its title song (Chhodo Kal Ki Baatien). He was kind, gentle and attentive. And he knew his job. Even though Hum Hindustani was his directorial debut, he was very confident. My first release Dil Deke Dekho, which was produced by the same banner (Filmalaya), was a big success. I was flooded with offers. I chose to do Hum Hindustani with Filmalaya because I was comfortable. Shooting for the film was a big adventure.”
