In March, speculations were rife about Bollywood superstars Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor teaming up for Anees Bazmee’s Saade Saati. In fact, a trade source even told After Hrs that ever since the actors started work on Total Dhamaal, they had formed a mutual admiration club and had decided to work together on Anees’ comic flick as well. We had also reported that plans were afoot to start the movie this November.

However, it seems the filmmaker has to wait in the queue. A source, who spoke to Anil and Ajay, got the impression that this comic caper is likely to be pushed ahead because both the actors are busy with other commitments.

After Fanney Khan, Anil has two films lined up — Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga with daughter Sonam and Total Dhamaal with Ajay and Madhuri Dixit-Nene. Then, he also has India’s Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra’s biopic on the cards.

In recent times, Ajay has signed up for Neeraj Pandey’s Chanakya and a biopic on legendary football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, which is being produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor. Not to forget, his ambitious historical venture, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, which goes on floors on September 25.

With these developments, it seems unlikely that Saade Saati will begin this November or even December. Another source tells us that everything is yet to be finalised. He says, “The shooting of Taanaji along with the VFX and other special effects of the period war drama will be extensive. As Ajay is producing the film, he will personally supervise the post-production as well. By the year-end, he is likely to begin work on Amit Sharma’s football biopic and then move on to Neeraj’s Chanakya, which is scheduled to start towards the middle of 2019. His film with Luv Ranjan, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, is also scheduled to start later next year. Saade Saati is a 55-day shoot with about a week’s work in Wai, Maharashtra. In the coming weeks, the makers will take a call on where to fit it in.”

Our insider adds, “The film will definitely get its turn, but when it’s likely to roll is a million-dollar question.”
