Ajay-Anil-Anees: The terrific trio?

Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn and hit filmmaker Anees Bazmee had worked together last in Deewangee way back in 2002. Now, the two have finally found a project to collaborate on after 16 years. But that’s not the only reason to look forward to their next outing, Saade Saati. Ajay will apparently team up with another Bazmee favourite — Anil Kapoor — in the comedy. The two National Award-winning actors will be seen in Indra Kumar’s Total Dhamaal too.

BACK IN TIME

Ajay and Anil starred together for the first time in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lajja (2001). However, the duo wasn’t seen in the same frame as the film had multiple storylines. Says a source, “In that movie, their paths never crossed, but they did work in Tezz (2012). It’s a coincidence that after such few collaborations in all these years, both the actors will now share screen space in two films within such a short span of time.” While Total Dhamaal is slated for a December release, Saade Saati is likely to go on the floors in November.

FILMI RAPPORT

Anees and Ajay share a great rapport. Their earlier collaborations include Hulchul (1995), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), and Deewangee (2002). Adds the source, “Anees is probably the only director who has worked with Ajay-Kajol twice — in Hulchal and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha.” Similarly, the director is very close to Anil, too. Says the source, “The two worked together in Mubarakan (2017), which also featured Anil’s nephew Arjun Kapoor. In fact, Anil’s beti Sonam, too, has worked with Anees in Thank You (2011).”

Saade Saati is about a man who’s going through a seven-and-a-half-year period of unfavourable luck due to the influence of Saturn (Shani) on his life.
