Several celebs including Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn took to their social media handles to mourn Dilip Kumar's demise.
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last today (July 7) morning at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital after suffering from age related illness. The entire film fraternity mourned the actor’s demise and extended their condolences on social media. Superstar Aamir Khan also took to his Instagram and paid his respects to the late actor.
“Thank you Yusuf Sahab for the invaluable, priceless and unique gift you have given all of us through your work. For me you have always been and always will be the greatest ever. Salaam. Love. Aamir,” the actor wrote on the Instagram handle of his company 'Aamir Khan Productions'.
Several other celebs such as Jahnvi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Ajay Devgn, Raj Babbar, among others remembered the Dilip Kumar.
The news of Dilip Kumar’s demise was shared by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the former Twitter handle. “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. Faisal Farooqui,” he wrote in his tweet.
The late actor’s funeral took place with full state honours ad declared by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Several politicians and celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar among others visited Dilip Kumar’s residence to pay their last respects.
Dilip Kumar cremated at the Santacruz Kabristan around 5 pm in the presence of his wife and heavy police security. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan also visited to pay their last repects.
Known as the tragedy king of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar has acted in 65 films in a career spanning over six decades. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is known for his iconic roles in movies like ‘Devdas’ (1955), ‘Naya Daur’ (1957), ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960), ‘Ganga Jamuna’ (1961), ‘Kranti’ (1981), and ‘Karma’ (1986). His last film was ‘Qila', which was released in 1998. He is now survived by his wife and veteran actor Saira Banu.
