Designer Sahil Aneja, who’s dressed him a couple of times, says, “He carries off most things very well. His body type and personality make him an aspirational figure for today’s youth who look up to him. I really liked his clean black tuxedo look with a Gucci bow-tie which was styled by designer Kunal Rawal. GYM TO AIRPORT
We admire Varun Dhawan’s lifelong dedication to the gym and he works the workout separates at the airport like a true blue fashionista. His trusty sunglasses and matching sneakers make the tone on tone work well.
LAYER SLAYER
Three layers and a beanie — that’s the look travel chic goals are made of. Varun knows the art of layering and makes this ensemble rather effortless. The reflector sunnies and the au courant white sneakers are cool additions.
MR TANGERINE

Versatile and energetic
The level of energy Varun brings to every look makes him quite a refreshing dresser. Costume designer Rick Roy says, “He’s quite versatile — and can pull off both Indian and western ensembles with ease. He’s someone who’s comfortable with himself. Whether he was dressing up for Judwaa 2 promotions or showing up in Indian ensembles during Badrinath ki Dulhaniya promos, he’s shown he’s not scared to take risks and move out of his comfort zone. Having said that, I’d like to add that athleisure appeal stands out in most of his looks. Also, what works in his favour is his persona — he is fun and energetic and he blends it into his style very well.”
Dhawan’s dude style has often veered towards street genre and inspired by hip hop music. Designer Aniket Satam observes, “Varun loves to play with a lot of sporty elements but in a very casual way. He may not be as flamboyant but he’s experimental for sure compared to the rest of the Bollywood brigade.”
Classic laidback
Designer Nadine Dhody hails him as a style chameleon. “I think he’s peppy and athletic and like a chameleon adapts to any mood.
I would say words like effortless and laidback best describe his personal style when he’s off duty, having said that put him in a suit and dress him up and he always looks fab,” says Nadine. Stylist Isha Bhansali seconds that. “Varun always channels sporty chic and he’s in good shape. Also, this easy chic dressing works well for his airport looks.”
Dresses for his body
Designer Arpita Mehta observes that Varun dresses for his body. “He is very fit and these pieces enhance his physique and he likes to put his body out there. He dresses his age and never overdoes it,” says she.
