Sara Ali Khan has stepped into the shoes of Karisma Kapoor in the upcoming film Coolie No 1. The soon-to-be-streamed comedy flick is the remake of Govinda and Karisma's movie of the same name. Varun Dhawan plays the titular role in this David Dhawan directorial. Earlier Sara had revealed that it's impossible to copy Karisma on screen and now during an interaction, the actor also spoke about the plot of the 90s film.

In an interview with Mid Day, Sara was quizzed about the 'problematic' plot of the 90s Coolie No 1, in which Govinda poses as a rich man to make a girl fall in love with him. While defending it, Sara stated, "I'd urge people to watch the film with the honest intention with which it is told. There is a difference between what you say on Twitter, and what an entertaining comedy tries to say. If everybody [expects] everything to be politically correct, any scope of humour in our lives will be [lost]. Of course, you can't be demeaning."

She shared, "Govinda sir duping Karisma to make her believe that he is not a coolie, is funny. It's not about him cheating. Ultimately, he falls in love with her, and that's what most of us look forward to in life."

Talking about her parents' Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's comic timing, Sara went on to share, "I am not as spontaneous as my dad or my mother. It's all about reacting to what the other person says. It's a difficult genre to crack. Varun helped me improve my comic timing. He is much more experienced in this genre."
