The Congress camp is upbeat following the arrest of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and the party is now gunning for the DV Sadananda Gowda government.

Leader of opposition in legislative assembly Siddaramaiah called on governor HR Bhardwaj on Sunday and discussed the political developments in the state. “The government has lost the moral right to continue in office after former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s arrest on corruption charges. More than half of the ministers in BJP government are tainted. The chief minister has no right to lead such a government,” Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah denied reports that he rejoiced at the arrest of Yeddyurappa. “But it is a huge lesson for the corrupt,” he added.

However, Siddaramaiah came down heavily on Yeddyurappa’s sudden health problems. “Yeddyurappa got admitted to Jayadeva hospital to escape jail stay,” he affirmed. He questioned the purpose of BJP patriarch LK Advani’s rath yatra against corruption when a former chief minister of his own party has been sent to jail over corruption. “How can Advani preach fighting against corruption now? He should call off the yatra,” he said.

Siddaramaiah demanded the state government to immediately convene the state legislature session to discuss various issues that have rocked the state recently.

KPCC president G Parameshwar termed the Sadananda Gowda ministry as the one brimming with crooks just waiting to follow Yeddyurappa to prison. “There are at least 14 ministers who are charged with various cases. This government is an insult to the mandate of the people. The sooner this government goes the better it will be for the state,” he said.
