You can soon cut motor costs by running cars on biodesel. Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and BJP president Nitin Gadkari jointly opened the state’s first bio-fuel production unit in Peenya Industrial Area on Sunday.
“The state has done an admirable job by pushing this green project forward. Now the entire nation will follow Karnataka in bio-diesel production and use,” the chief minister said.
Gadkari too appreciated the private initiative.
“The governments at the Centre and state should put farmers in this venture. Barren lands can be cultivated with Jatropha Curcas and Pongamia Pinnata plants for continuous supply of raw material for bio-diesel production, he said. This bio-fuel can be used for all normal diesel engines and it will increase the efficiency of the engine.
The production unit of Eco-Green Fuel headed by Jilesh Bhatia, Saritha Bhatia and Pratik Nagotra presented the concept of bio-diesel to the Karnataka State Bio-Fuel Development Board chairman YB Ramakrishna in 2008. r_aparajita@dnaindia.net
