Vigilante prisoners assault Afreen's father in jail

On Wednesday night, a group of prisoners in Parappana Agrahara Central jail saw a TV news bulletin about Neha’s death. Later, the prisoner’s took Farooq into a cell and physically assaulted him. The police rushed Farooq to the jail hospital when he had difficulty breathing, said a police officer. Later, Farooq was shifted to block number three — the high-security wing where former minister G Janardhana Reddy has been lodged.

Hardened criminals-turned-vigilantes do not approve of crimes committed in cold-blood. “These groups oppose cold-blooded murderers like Farooq. They consider their own crimes - such as murder — have been committed due to provocations,” said TH Lakshminarayana, chief superintendent, Parappana Agrahara.
These groups are accused of murder and their motive is usually property disputes, cheating, family tiffs, etc, he added.
