The high court on Tuesday adjourned two public interest litigations questioning the appointment of justice Chandrashekaraiah as upa lokayukta to March 27.

The public interest litigations (PILs) filed by advocates M Anand and Janekere C Krishna contended that Chandrashekaraiah’s appointment to the upa lokayukta post was illegal and it had been done without consulting the chief justice. Hence, the appointment should be stayed.

The division bench headed by Justice N Kumar adjourned the case to March 27.

The advocates requested for adjournment saying there was a general body meeting of the Bangalore advocates association.

The bench observed that this was the last postponement as the public was criticising them for adjourning the case.
