Two software engineers commit suicide in Bangalore

The relatives of Yogesh said work pressure might have forced him to end life.

The city saw the death of two techies who committed suicide, suspectedly due to emotional and professional pressure, in two separate cases.

Software engineer Deepanjali Avasthe, 24, an employee of Transcera Communications Pvt Ltd, Koramangala, allegedly hung herself from the ceiling fan on Thursday night at her third floor paying guest accommodation in Jakkasandra I stage.

Sujitha, her roommate, came home from work on November 25, and immediately alerted the landlady, Jessie, of the Joyce PG accommodation, who then alerted the police. Avasthe, a native of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, had moved in with Sujitha two months ago. Koramangala police inspector, Nagaraj, said that a failed love affair might be the reason behind the suicide, though investigations are on to find the real cause. The body was taken to Victoria hospital for post mortem. The police are awaiting the arrival of her parents from Madhya Pradesh. A case has been registered in Koramangala police station and investigation is on.

 In another incident, a 35-year-old Yogesh Kumar Mishra, a team leader in Ness Technologies Private Limited, Koramangala, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence. Police said, Mishra’s wife, Jyoti, had gone to bring their seven-year-old daughter from school and came back at 3:30 pm to find her husband hanging. Jyoti said that Yogesh had been working from home for the last few days.

According to some of Yogesh’s relatives, immense work pressure might have led him to take such an extreme step. His body was handed over to his relatives after the post mortem on Friday morning.
