External affairs minister SM Krishna has hit back at BJP state president KS Eshwarappa, who had alleged that Krishna topped among the chief ministers who denotified land in and around Bangalore.

“The related files and my notings on them are there in Vidhana Soudha. Anybody can see them. He could file a case if he has any evidence. But for some people, it is just a habit to file cases,” Krishna said.

Eshwarappa, on Saturday, had said, “SM Krishna denotified 800 acres of land. The person who denotified just 100 acres is in judicial custody, while the man who denotified 800 acres is freely moving around.”

Krishna refused to comment on BJP national leader LK Advani’s Jan Chetana Yatra against corruption. He rejected the BJP’s charge that the UPA government was discriminating against BJP-led Karnataka. “BJP leaders are laying the blame at the Centre’s doorstep for their own failures. Prime minister Manmohan Singh has assured that the Centre would not discriminate against the state during the recent National Development Council meeting,” said Krishna.

Gowda protests load-shedding
JD(S) national president HD Deve Gowda hit the streets on Sunday, protesting against the power crisis that has plunged large parts of the state into darkness when the people should have been celebrating Deepavali.

Gowda blamed the Congress and BJP governments for the present crisis. “The state would not have been suffering this if it had implemented the projects that I had envisaged when I was the PM,” he said.

Gowda declared that he would tour all the 224 assembly constituencies in the state to protest against the BJP’s failures in tackling the power and drought problem in the state. Gowda came down heavily on the state government for corruption. “They are in a queue to enter jail. It would be better for the government to hold its cabinet meeting in jail in the coming days,” he said.
