Three unidentified miscreants tried to rape a woman who was allegedly working as sex worker, in Ejipura on Sunday afternoon.

The men went to the building where a prostitution racket was allegedly being run. They zeroed in on a woman sitting in the hall.  The woman turned down their advances, upon which the three men tried to rape her. Listening to the woman’s cries, two women came to the hall.

The miscreants attacked them too. The women are in the age group of 20-23 years and hail from North India.

The women rushed outside the room, screaming for help. In the rush, they tripped on the stairs and fell down.

Two women sustained fractures on their leg in the incident and are undergoing treatment in Bowring Hospital.

Local people heard their cries and rushed them to hospital. They tried to catch the miscreants, but the latter managed to escape.
The local people said the miscreants were local goons involved in petty crime incidents.

They left behind their motorcycle. Viveknagar police seized the motorcycle.

Locals had earlier informed the police that a prostitution racket was being run in the building.

The building owner, Ramaswamy, had leased the building. However, the police said the women are employees of a live band.
