PU lecturers to protest until demands are met

The strike by pre-university lecturers that began on December 8 does not seem to be coming to an end.

In fact, the number of people joining the protest has only increased. On Wednesday, some college principals, too, joined the agitation.

PU lecturers have been boycotting classes for the past seven days demanding that the 6th pay commission be implemented immediately.

“This is the third time we are going on strike for the same issue,” the lecturers said.

The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), which is lending support to this rally, said that they will wait for the chief minister’s decision.

However, at the same time, it said that lecturers would compensate for the lost hours by taking special classes, so that students would not bear the brunt.

“The lecturers have been asking for these demands for a while now. The state government is at fault and not the PU lecturers,” said Rajashekar VN, state president of the AIDSO.
