Police launch search for kidnapped teenager

Police said Akshay, son of a businessman, was standing in front of a bakery when a gang forcefully took him away in a car around 5.30 pm.

A teenager was kidnapped from Govindashetty Palya on Sunday evening.  Police said Akshay, son of a businessman, was standing in front of a bakery when a gang forcefully took him away in a car around 5.30 pm.

Police initiated a search for the teenager after those who had witnessed the incident informed them. Investigators even questioned a few prisoners lodged in the Parappana Agrahara central jail.  It has also been suspected that Akshay was taken away by his friends.

“We are trying to trace him. He could be taken by his friends,” a police officer said, adding that the real picture would emerge only after the teenager was traced. Investigators expressed confidence that they would find and rescue Akshay from the kidnappers. 

Head constable consumes poison, dies in hospital
A 51-year-old head constable with CAR South police station, who allegedly consumed poison on Saturday, died while undergoing treatment at Bowring Hospital on Sunday.  The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Gowda, a resident of police quarters, Adugodi.  He was working as a phone orderly at a senior police officer's residence.

Ramachandra Gowda, who left his house on Saturday evening, was found unconscious in CAR South Parade Ground.
Gowda was immediately rushed to the Bowring hospital where doctors confirmed that he had consumed poison.He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Police said the motive of the suicide was not known. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
