Yet another much-talked-about civic project in the city is set to miss the deadline of its completion. The deadline to prepare cycling tracks in Jayanagar is February 9 but even the work on markings for the tracks has not yet started.

Local corporator CK Ramamurthy and local MLA Vinay Kumar said the work would be completed by March.

The Rs2.59-crore project was inaugurated in November last year and was slated to be finished in three months. However, with just about two weeks to go for the deadline, the only groundwork that has taken place is that new pedestrian crossings and speed breakers have been made. They are different in the sense that they are made with red tiles.

Ramamurthy said the work on the cycling tracks would start soon.

He said a survey must be conducted to study what kind of traffic plies on the road so that the project does not disrupt the traffic flow. He said the survey had been completed and the authorities had decided to start work at Jayanagar 38th Cross at 4th T Block.
