JP Nagar police have arrested eight persons in connection to the murder of Mico Ravi, who was hacked to death in front of his house last week.

The police said a rival gangsters had killed Ravi as they suspected he had murdered a person of their gang.

JP Nagar police arrested Ravi’s attackers on Saturday. They are Balu Murugan alias Kariya, 23; Raghavendra, 23; Shiva, 21; Harish Kumar, 21; Jagadish, 20; Chandra Babu, 21; I Anila, 22; and Balaraj, 23.

The police seized two cars and lethal weapons.

Additional commissioner of police (law and order) T Suneel Kumar said the police are on the look-out for three more persons.

Last Wednesday, a group of assailants murdered Ravi in front of his house in Ragi Gudda slum, JP Nagar Phase II, at 6.30am, when he returned after completing a nightshift at Mico factory at Adugodi.

The police said Ravi used to be an aide of criminals Arasaiah and Aluminium Babu and was allegedly involved in the murder of Jelli Venkatesh.

A rowdy-sheet had been opened against Ravi, but he got it closed by reportedly influencing some top police officials.

The police said Ravi’s assailants murdered him because they thought he masterminded the murder of Paramesh, a criminal who was killed in July 2011.

Soon after the murder, Mico Ravi had shifted his house from Jayanagar to JP Nagar. Paramesh’s relative Kariya Balu suspected that Ravi killed Paramesh and decided to eliminate kill him with the help of his henchmen.

A police team headed by ACP (Jayanagar sub-division) GB Manjunath and police inspector BS Angadi arrested the eight
accused.
