Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda said the Metro will get its safety certification from the commissioner of railway safety, DK Singh, within a day or two.

In a press meet on Tuesday, he said: “The process of the safety certification is nearing completion and the Metro is expected to get the certificate in a couple of days. Thereafter, the line will be ready for launch any day, but the prime minister is out of the country from September 21 to September 26. Hence, it [the inauguration] might be done once the PM comes back to country and gives a date to come down to Bangalore.”

Meanwhile, Singh has sought more clarification from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) and asked them to rectify some systems as per his recommendations. Once the rectifications are incorporated and appropriate documents are submitted to the CRS, Singh will be able to issue the safety certificate immediately.

Singh had inspected Reach 1 from September 6 to September 8 and made recommendations, which he had not divulged to the media. He later said the BMRC could improve the operational aspects and added that he had sought additional documentation after the inspections.
