Namma Metro finally completed its first examination — the oscillation trial runs conducted by the Railway Designs and Standard Operation (RDSO). The report of the results will be submitted to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) after the analysis of trials by RDSO’s  departments, based in Lucknow. The team from Lucknow has left after conducting the trials on Wednesday. The report will come in seven to 15 days, said a BMRCL spokesperson.

“With the report filed by the RDSO, we will approach the commissioner for railway safety,  who is also the commissioner for Metro Rail Safety to conduct safety tests. We cannot mention any specific timeline, as the report has to be submitted by a third party,” said BLY Chavan, spokesman, BMRCL.

Grapevine has it that the Metro will be launched on August 15. Chavan, however, brushed off the rumours saying safety certification is the priority and not the date of launch.

Sources in the corporation said that although the safety certification would be completed by mid-July, the Centre and state governments could launch the Metro on Independence Day.
