Even though the state government has extended the deadline for submission of details that have to be submitted by gas cylinder owners in the city and elsewhere, confusion continues to prevail among the people.

There were long queues of LPG connection-holders in many parts of the city to submit details to cylinder distributing agencies.

However, as the agencies themselves are confused about the guidelines, card-holders were left in a fix. In the meantime, the government on Saturday issued fresh guidelines to clear doubts over submission of particulars for LPG holders.

Thirty-five-year-old Sugunesh K, a resident of Rajarajeshwari Nagar, said he has been running from pillar to post with copies of documents for the past few days.

“First, the agency staff said only a ration card photocopy has to be submitted. Now, they are asking for the electricity bill too. We are confused,” he said.

For Ratnamma R of Vijayanagar, the confusion is compounded. “Even media reports are confusing us and the government should have made proper preparations before coming up with such notices,” she said.

In the meantime, the department of food and civic supplies issued fresh guidelines on Saturday to clear doubts over submission of particulars to agencies.

As announced earlier, LPG gas-holders must submit photocopies of their electricity bill and ration card. This exercise is to weed out bogus PDS ration cards and illegal LPG connections.
